About the GA-FDD
Laboratories
The Government Analyst Food and Drug Department is compromised of five analytical sections. The laboratories monitor the quality of Food and Drugs regulated by the Department. These are
- The Drug Chemistry Laboratory
- The Food Chemistry Laboratory
- The Water Chemistry Laboratory
- The Food Microbiology Laboratory
- The Excise Chemistry Laboratory
Inspectorate Division
The Inspectorate Division is the policing arm of the Department. In order to perform its functions the GA-FDD Inspectorate Division is sub-divided into Food & Drug Inspectorate. Both are responsible for inspecting and licensing manufacturers and importers, registering pharmaceutical products and investigating consumer complaints. Inspectors utilize modern inspection methodology, assurance systems and standard sampling operations such as Good Manufacturing Practices and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point.
