FRONTAL PACKAGING LABELING OF PRE-PACKAGED FOODS.

Training

Ms Crystal Nunes attended the 2nd Face to Face Meeting of CROSQ Regional Technical Sub- committee – Labeling of pre- packaged Foods including Front of Package Labeling in Suriname from the 14th– 15th May, 2019. Countries represented were Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, and Suriname. The objectives of the meeting were to:

Complete the disposition of compiled Member States comments on the Draft CARICOM Regional Standard (DCRS).
Achieve Consensus on the Draft CARICOM Regional Standard (DCRS) as a Final Draft CARICOM Regional Standard (FDCRS).

Due to insufficient time, the meeting was concluded at Jamaica’s comments and a decision was made to continue discussions via subsequent online meetings and a proposed 3rdFace to Face Meeting.

Countries represented were Barbados, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago. The objectives were to:

Also. WTO representative Ms. Kyra Berasi gave a presentation on how the TBT agreement works in relation to the inclusion of Front of Package Labelling.

The Meeting concluded with the decision for RTSC members to review the amended document and confirm the changes made and to determine whether to document will have to be recirculated for a second round of commenting and feedback in member states or to proceed to Voting stage (COTED).
